059 FXUS65 KPUB 252038 AFDPUB Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Pueblo CO 238 PM MDT Wed Sep 25 2024 .KEY MESSAGES... - Getting HOT once again. - Isolated showers and storms possible over the mountains, especially the Continental Divide, Friday afternoon. - Above normal temperatures and mostly dry weather through the forecast period. && .SHORT TERM /THROUGH THURSDAY/... Issued at 237 PM MDT Wed Sep 25 2024 Currently... Skies were clear across the fcst area, and temps were in the mid 0s to lower 80s across the plains, while L70s were noted over the valleys. 60s and 70s were noted over mtns. Next 24 hours... Not much in the way of change from the current weather. Mid level ridge will build over the region with dry, clear skies. The most noticeable change will be the ambient max temps will be increasing significantly, with temps in the U80s to M90s over the plains, and these values will be running 8 to 15F above normal for this time of the year. Although it will be hot tomorrow, temps are expected to be ~2-4F below record values. /Hodanish && .LONG TERM /THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/... Issued at 237 PM MDT Wed Sep 25 2024 Will see energy pass to the north and with the previously mentioned upper low trying to retrograde back west across the Central CONUS at the start of the period. However, both don`t look to bring any real big changes to the overall pattern by the end of the work week. While still above normal, slightly cooler temperatures are expected across the region on Friday given some slight push of colder air during this time frame. Precip chances still look to be low on Friday with some ridging in place, but with some slight increases in moisture and focus Friday afternoon, there does appear to be some slight increase in precip potential over the higher terrain. Moisture and instability look to be limited though, and expect coverage and intensity of any shower or storm to be low at this time. By Saturday into the remainder of the weekend, the ridge really builds back in across the region providing a continued dry and above normal temp pattern. Will see a fairly deep upper trough shift east across the central CONUS early next week. Guidance in fairly good agreement with keeping this system well north/northeast of the region, but it does appear to help send a front south over the plains during this time. Winds will likely surge with this front along with some cooler temps returning, though precip chances look really low given the lacking moisture still in place. && .AVIATION /18Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z THURSDAY/...
