Vulnerable populations should take extra precautions today, along with anyone who has to spend extra time outdoors. Try to limit time in the sun and remain hydrated. Isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms are also expected across the area this afternoon and evening, with the best coverage over and near the higher terrain. Storms will be higher based, with the main storm threats being gusty outflow winds up to 55 mph, small hail and lightning. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday Isolated high based thunderstorms will be possible on Tuesday which could produce gusty outflow winds up to 50 mph and lightning. Otherwise it will be hot with temperatures topping out between 95 and 105 across portions of the plains. A Heat Advisory is in effect for El Paso, Pueblo and Eastern Fremont counties for Tuesday afternoon and evening. Thunderstorm chances increase for Wednesday through Friday. The main risk with thunderstorms will be heavy rainfall capable of producing localized flash flooding on burn scars. However one or two strong to marginally severe thunderstorms will be possible with small hail and wind gusts close to 60 mph possible. A cold front will bring cooler temperatures to the southeast plains for Saturday and Sunday and a possible uptick in thunderstorm chances for the southeast mountains and adjacent plains both days. Heavy rainfall, small hail and gusty outflow winds will be the primary storm risks. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
