...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT CENTRAL COSTILLA COUNTY THROUGH
145 PM MDT...
At 1255 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7
miles south of Fort Garland, or 23 miles east of San Luis Valley
Airport, moving northeast at 20 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
San Luis, Blanca, Fort Garland, and San Acacio.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
