.DISCUSSION...

-Brisk North Winds Today:

* A cold front will continue to track south across Nevada leaving
brisk N-NW winds in its wake this afternoon. The surface
gradient will be most pronounced across the W.Nevada Basin and
Range where sustained winds of 20-30 mph will be possible along
  with gusts of 30-40 mph.

* This will result in rough boating conditions across Basin lakes
such as Pyramid, Walker, Lahontan, and Rye Patch Reservoir as
well as eastern Sierra lakes including Crowley Lake. As such, a
Lake Wind Advisory has been issued for these winds. Areas of
blowing dust possible downwind of desert sinks.

* Localized areas of critical fire weather conditions will still
be possible, particularly in any areas of cured fine fuels
across far W.Nevada basins and in the Chalfant Valley.

-Significant Cooldown Today and Tuesday:

* Our recent cold front will usher in a much cooler air mass with
today`s high temperatures struggling to reach the 70 degree mark
across W.Nevada (15-20 degrees below season averages).

* Clearing skies, very dry air, and decreasing winds will allow
for temperatures to fall to chilly levels overnight. Sierra
valleys and even some colder lower valley such as the Carson and
Smith valleys have a 40-60% chance of seeing several hours of
freezing temperatures. Consider protecting sensitive plants
tonight and early Tuesday morning if you live in a cold valley.

-Heating Up By the Weekend:

* Temperatures will quickly rebound 5-10 degrees on Tuesday with
near average temperatures expected by Wednesday afternoon.

* While this week will start off 15-20 degrees below season
averages, the weekend is looking to heat up to 10-15 degrees
above average. This will put W.Nevada valley in the upper 90s to
near 100 with mid-80s for Sierra valleys.

* Precipitation prospects looked limited through much of the
upcoming week with a dry air mass in place. However, increased
heating by the weekend could result in cumulus development
across elevated terrain with overall shower chances less than
  10%.

possible. LLWS and areas of BLDU possible at times.
