Summer like weather returns today with warm, near record
breaking temperatures 10 to 20 degrees above normal. Highs will
be in the upper 80s to low 90s in areas east of the Divide and
low to mid 80s west of the Divide. Skies remain mostly clear
with quiet and dry conditions. Southwesterly winds will begin to
increase during the afternoon/evening with gusts of 15 to 25
mph possible at times. Elevated to critical fire weather
conditions will be a concern in parts of the CWA today due to
the warm temperatures, low RH, and breezy winds. However, due to
these winds and low RH values occurring at the same time for
only a short period, no fire weather related highlights will be
issued.

Warm, dry, and quiet conditions are expected to prevail through the
remainder of the week as high pressure builds in over the region.
Wednesday will see a shortwave move across the PACNW, which will
begin to tighten the pressure gradient for Thursday. The system is
expected to remain too far north to bring any precipitation.
However, winds are expected to increase as a result of the proximity
of the system, with gusts of 20 to 30 mph possible at times during
the afternoon/evening on Thursday. The strongest of winds will be
across portions of Johnson, Natrona, Fremont, and Sweetwater
Counties along with the wind corridor. Due to well above normal
temperatures, gusty winds, and low RH values elevated to critical
fire weather conditions may be possible for Thursday
afternoon/evening. As of right now no highlights will be issued but
the situation will need to be monitored. Ridging looks to
persist across the region well into the weekend keeping any
disturbances well to the north of the area. The next chance for
precipitation does not look to arrive until the middle of next
week but chances are looking slim with little agreement among
models. If models do not end up changing its very likely we will
see dry and warm conditions continue into the end of September.

Mainly SKC skies will continue through the TAF period. Winds
will remain light (11kt or less) for most of the time as well.
Gusts of 20-25kt will occur at KCPR, KJAC and KRKS between 18Z
and 00Z, with similar gusts occurring in southwest wind prone
locations.
