At 5 pm EDT Tuesday, the center of Hurricane Helene was located north of the Yucatan Peninsula and over the southeastern Gulf of Mexico. Helene will move northward across the eastern Gulf on Wednesday and Thursday, rapidly strengthening to a major hurricane before making landfall along the Big Bend Coast late Thursday. Helene will quickly move inland on Friday, so conditions will improve over the waters.
