Surf Zone Forecast
National Weather Service Tallahassee FL
429 AM EDT Sat Jun 29 2024

.THE SURF ZONE FORECAST GENERAL OUTLOOK...

Surf heights of around 2 feet are expected at all Panhandle beaches
today; however, Franklin county beaches will remain in the 1-2 feet
range. This will lead to a high risk for rip currents at Gulf county
beaches today. Bay and Walton county beaches will see 2 foot surf
heights today; however, the periods will be around 4 seconds, which
will keep a moderate threat for rip currents at these county beaches
today. A rip current statement could be issued for these counties
later in the morning after coordination with local beach officials.
The threat for rip currents is expected to dramatically increase
starting Sunday as swells from another tropical disturbance currently
crossing the Yucatan reaches the beaches. This combined with
increasing surf heights to 3-4 feet will lead to a high risk for rip
currents at all area beaches.
