THUNDERSTORMS WITH DANGEROUS LIGHTNING. RISK...Limited. AREA...Near and North of I-40. ONSET...This afternoon. DANGEROUS HEAT. RISK...Elevated. AREA...Much of eastern OK and west-central AR. ONSET...Late Morning. DISCUSSION... Another very hot day is expected today as high temperatures climb into the mid 90s to near 100 F, with heat indices exceeding 105 F for much of the area. A few showers and storms may develop this afternoon and evening, especially for areas north of I-40. These storms should be less numerous with a minimal risk of severe weather compared to yesterday. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... Spotter Activation Not Expected. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday. SATURDAY...Thunderstorm Potential...Dangerous Heat Potential. SUNDAY TO WEDNESDAY...Thunderstorm Potential. THURSDAY...No Hazards. EXTENDED DISCUSSION... Dangerous heat will extend into Saturday before cooler weather develops for the remainder of the forecast period. Showers and thunderstorms will increase in coverage Saturday and become numerous on Sunday. A few storms may become marginally severe on Sunday.
