THUNDERSTORMS WITH DANGEROUS LIGHTNING. RISK...Limited. AREA...Most of Eastern Oklahoma and Western Arkansas. ONSET...This Afternoon. DISCUSSION... Widely scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon across parts of southeast Oklahoma and western Arkansas and also in northeast Oklahoma to the northwest of Interstate 44. Severe weather is not expected. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... Spotter Activation Not Expected. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday. THURSDAY...Thunderstorm Potential. FRIDAY AND SATURDAY...No Hazards. SUNDAY THROUGH TUESDAY...Thunderstorm and Dangerous Heat Potential. EXTENDED DISCUSSION... A few afternoon showers and thunderstorms may again develop across parts of southeast Oklahoma and west central Arkansas Thursday afternoon. Severe weather is unlikely. Upper level high pressure will build into the region for the weekend and into early next week, leading to well above normal temperatures. Widespread triple digit heat index values should be expected beginning Saturday, with increasing moisture late in the weekend making the need for heat headlines more likely beginning Sunday.
