977 FXUS65 KTWC 182140 AFDTWC Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tucson AZ 240 PM MST Wed Sep 18 2024 .SYNOPSIS...Breezy and dry conditions with temperatures a few degrees cooler than normal through the work week. Temperatures are forecast to warm above normal again Sunday into next week. && .DISCUSSION...Beautiful September day under southwest flow aloft. Mostly clear cool nights and seasonal high temperatures to continue into Friday. A weather system, currently off the central California coast, will move across the state on Friday bringing gusty winds Friday and cooler daytime temperatures on Saturday. Upper ridging starts to build over the area on Sunday and will be around for much of next week, bringing hotter daytime temperatures to the area. A few ensemble members have near record highs late next week with confidence level low. Weak low level easterly flow will bring a modest moisture push into eastern zones during the first half of next week. At this time we have a 10%-20% chance of precipitation for the White mountains Tue/Wed. && .AVIATION...Valid through 20/00Z. FEW clouds between 7k and 9k ft AGl thru 19/03z otrw SKC-FEW cirrus AOA 20k ft AGL thru fcst pd. SFC winds S/SW 10-15 kts with ocnl gusts to 22 kts thru 19/02z then light and variable thru 19/17Z. Gusty winds return to terminal sites aft 19/19z. Aviation discussion not updated for TAF amendments. && .FIRE WEATHER...Dry conditions with temperatures near to a few degrees below normal will continue through Saturday. Minimum relative humidity down to 15 to 20 percent in lower elevations with 20 to 35 percent in higher elevations. South to southwesterly winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph through Friday, then becoming west to northwesterly on Saturday.
