.DISCUSSION...Expect partly cloudy skies today with chances for
thunderstorms in the afternoon. Some storms may be severe. Highs
will be in the mid 80s to low 90s. Winds will be southeast at 15
to 25 mph, with gusts to around 30 mph. Winds will shift to the
west behind a surface trough late this afternoon in western areas.
Minimum relative humidity will range from 50 to 60 percent in
central SD, to 20 to 35 percent in the far west.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

The grassland fire danger index will reach the low category this
afternoon. Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture
content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the ground,
indicate that the probability of a fast moving fire is low.
Outdoor burning under these conditions can usually be performed
with reasonable safety precautions, but should be monitored.

The outlook for Friday afternoon, The grassland fire danger index
will reach the low category.
