Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Las Vegas NV
1250 AM PDT Sun Sep 22 2024

.SYNOPSIS...High pressure will build over the region this upcoming
week. Conditions will be dry while temperatures climb several
degrees above normal.

&&

.SHORT TERM...Sunday through Tuesday.

The upper low that brought some showers and thunderstorms over the
past couple of days has shifted east with a drier northwest flow
working into the region. High pressure over the eastern Pacific will
gradually work into the western US early next week keeping dry
conditions along with increasing temperatures. The average high
temperature in Las Vegas currently sits at 92 degrees. The high on
Saturday was 91 degrees which will likely be the last day of below
normal high temperatures for the next several days as the ridge
shifts over the region. No significant clouds or winds are expected
through Tuesday.

.LONG TERM...Wednesday through Sunday

The ridge generally stays in place over the southwest CONUS while an
upper level low spins off the Southern California coast. This setup
will help maintain above average temperatures across the area. There
may be some decrease in temperatures towards the end of the week
depending on how fast the high moves east and the next low pressure
system moves in. The latest NBM run indicates a 25 percent
probability of reaching 100 degrees in Las Vegas on Wednesday
through Friday, with lower probabilities over next weekend. Moderate
(Level 2) HeatRisk continues through the end of the week for Death
Valley and the Colorado River Valley.
