111 FNAK53 PAFG 271308 FWFAFG Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Interior Alaska National Weather Service Fairbanks AK 508 AM AKDT Thu Jun 27 2024 ...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES 911, 912, 931, 932, 933, 934, 935, 939, 943, 944 AND 946... .DISCUSSION... A ridge of high pressure in the Interior and a trough of low pressure in the Bering will create a boundary from the NW Arctic to the SE Interior where strong, scattered thunderstorms are expected this afternoon. Most of these thunderstorms will be wet, but there may be a few dry thunderstorms, especially north of Circle. Temperatures will remain largely in the 80s with minimum RH values in the 20 to 30% range. The lowest RHs are expected to be from the Yukon Flats west to Allakaket. Sustained winds will be around 10-15 mph in the Northern Interior but thunderstorms can erratic wind gusts. We expect Friday to be similar with the hot/dry conditions. However, winds will be weakening to below Red Flag Criteria. We expect scattered thunderstorms Friday evening from Fort Yukon to Arctic Village westward. Most of these will be wet but an isolated drier storm is possible. On Saturday, the thunderstorm threat moves to the AlCan border and remains in the Eastern Brooks Range. For now, widely scattered wet thunderstorms are expected.
