Survey Summary:
A line of strong thunderstorms began producing damage
approximately 2 miles east of Lightstreet (Columbia County) in the
400 block of Fowlersville Rd. The strong winds continued eastward,
knocking down numerous trees and one barn along Fowlersville Rd.
The most prolific damage occurred in the vicinity of Briar Creek
Union Cemetery. Many large pine trees in a grove to the northwest
of the Cemetery were snapped off and trees just to the north of
the cemetery were uprooted.

The downburst continued eastward across Red Brick Church Rd and
caused extensive damage to several buildings. A garage door gave
way on the west side of the house, causing the cement blocks of
another wall to push out from the foundation. Adjacent to the
house, a barn was blown off of its foundation and destroyed.
Several pieces of siding and metal roofing were blown into the
field behind the house and littered in the field downwind.
Additional trees were blown down across a field to the southeast
of the farm.

The storm continued eastward as it weakened, producing sporadic
damage between Fowlersville Road and Highway 11 into Briar Creek.

The damage in Berwick, consisting of downed tree branches and
power lines, and to Bloomingail`s store was due to an earlier
storm that moved through the area.

We would like to thank Columbia County and Montour County Emergency
Management Agencies for their assistance with this damage survey,
along with many members of the public who reported these impacts
to our office.
