Sunshine will be mixed with variable amounts of mainly thin, high clouds through the midday hours today before some periods of thicker mid-level clouds spread in from the west this afternoon and evening. High temperatures this afternoon will range from the mid to upper 70s across the mountains, to the lower to mid 80s elsewhere. Lows tonight will be notably milder than early Friday, varying from the mid 50s over the Poconos to around 70 in the southwest corner of the stat. A warmer and much more humid airmass will surge back into Pennsylvania on Saturday. At the leading edge of this airmass change will be a chance of showers and storms later tonight. Showers and thunderstorms will become much more widespread on Saturday and Saturday night. Some storms could become severe Saturday afternoon and evening with a threat for localized damaging wind gusts, large hail and even a few tornadoes across Central and Northwestern Pennsylvania. Heavy downpours with rainfall amounts of 1-3 inches are possible where several storms move over the same locations. A cold front will move east and south of the area by late Sunday, bringing in less humid air. $$
