...Forecast flooding changed from Moderate to Major severity and
increased in duration for the following rivers in South Dakota...

  Firesteel Creek near Mount Vernon affecting Davison County.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL SATURDAY, JUNE 29...

* WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
  This approaches the flood of record.

* WHERE...Firesteel Creek near Mount Vernon.

* WHEN...Until Saturday, June 29.

* IMPACTS...At 17.0 feet, the water reaches the bottom of the bridge
  on 398th Avenue at the gage.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 5:15 PM CDT Friday the stage was 15.1 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 5:15 PM CDT Friday was 15.1 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 16.2
    feet early Sunday morning. It will then fall below flood
    stage Friday, June 28.
  - Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
