First of all...a big...albeit short-lived cool down is on the way...particularly for Wednesday...which will be the coolest day of the month. Secondly...although it will certainly NOT rain non-stop...there are very high chances for occasional showers and thunderstorms at various times...and in various parts of our area...starting this afternoon...and continuing through Wednesday night. Over the course of this entire time...MOST of our coverage area will likely pick up between one-half inch and 2 inches of rain...with localized pockets of higher totals probable too...especially south and east of the Tri Cities and down into Kansas. Unfortunately...a few storms this afternoon and evening could also be severe...so keep an eye on the weather especially between 4 and 10 PM. Getting back to temperatures...highs today will actually vary quite a bit across our coverage area as a cold front passes through...ranging from only the 70s in northern and western communities such as Greeley and Lexington Nebraska...to as warm as the upper 80s to lower 90s in southern and eastern towns such as Hebron Nebraska and Osborne Kansas. As earlier mentioned though...the real cool-down comes Wednesday...with highs only in the 60s across most of our area...although especially parts of north central Kansas could reach the 70s. $$
