343 AWUS83 KGLD 171009 RWSGLD Regional Weather Summary for the High Plains National Weather Service Goodland KS 409 AM MDT Mon Jun 17 2024 An isolated supercell thunderstorm developed late Sunday afternoon in southwest Nebraska near McCook. This thunderstorm produced hail up to softball size just west of McCook. Scattered thunderstorms moved across northwest Kansas overnight producing sporadic wind gusts as high as 60 mph. Overnight temperatures were mainly in the 70s with south winds gusting up to 40 mph at times. OUTLOOK... today will be hot with widely scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms. Highs will be in the upper 90s to lower 100s. It will also be windy to very windy, especially tonight, with the strongest winds near the Kansas and Colorado border area. Lows will range from the upper 50s in northeast Colorado which will see a cold front move through overnight to the middle 70s in north central Kansas. The cold front will continue to move through northwest Kansas on Tuesday with scattered thunderstorms from late morning through the afternoon. Highs will range from the upper 70s in Colorado behind the front to the lower 90s in southwest Kansas ahead of it. Tuesday night will see numerous thunderstorms with heavy rain possible. Lows will be in the 50s. Wednesday will be cloudy and cooler with highs in the 60s and rain chances continuing. $$
