...HURRICANE HONE PRODUCES HEAVY RAINFALL AND FLASH FLOODING ON
THE BIG ISLAND...

Outer rain bands from Hurricane Hone impacted portions of the Big
Island, resulting in heavy rainfall and flash flooding. The main
flooding impacts were road closures that occurred late Saturday
night and into Sunday morning over the Puna and Kau
Districts.

The following are notable automated rain gage totals for the
24-hour period ending at 12 PM HST, August 25. All amounts are in
inches. These totals are considered preliminary for information
purposes only.
