185 FZUS63 KMKX 251929 GLFLM OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI 229 PM CDT Wed Sep 25 2024 FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan. Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will occasionally be encountered. .SYNOPSIS... High pressure ranging in central pressure from 30.0 to 30.1 inches will linger over the Upper Great Lakes region into Friday morning. Light and variable winds will persist during this time, as the week pressure gradient over the lake won`t force a certain wind direction for any appreciable amount of time. Friday, the remnants of Hurricane Helene are projected to move into the Ohio River Valley as a post tropical cyclone with a central pressure of 29.4 inches. The stronger pressure gradient from the low will move over the southern end of Lake Michigan, promoting gusty northeasterly winds during the day on Friday and overnight into early Saturday morning. Helene is gradually expected to fill and die out over the weekend, promoting a gradual decrease in northeast to northerly wind Saturday into Sunday.
