.DISCUSSION...A weak, flat ridge building over the region today
will allow temperatures to creep back up above average for this
time of year. It will still be unstable enough for some light rain
showers across northwest Montana, but the rest of the region will
remain dry today.

The flat ridge will flex a little the next several days giving way
to zonal (straight west-to-east) flow. That`s a typical pattern
for breezy to windy conditions, which is what we`ll have on
Tuesday. Especially at higher elevations winds will gust around 30
mph, but also around Flathead Lake so a lake wind advisory may be
warranted for Tuesday.

Overall, temperatures remain above average with breezy conditions
through the end of the week when ensembles are showing the next
weather system come. Models all agree on a trough of some kind
dropping out of the northwest, but there`s a lot of difference in
the timing and how much moisture comes with it. So confidence is
high for a change in the weather next weekend, but there`s a lot
of uncertainty remaining in the details.

.AVIATION...A weak, flat ridge building over the region today will
cause IFR conditions. Terminals close to Canada, such as KGPI will
still see some shower development this afternoon, but showers are
expected to be moving quickly and will only be able to produce
light rain.
