Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Nashville TN
612 AM CDT Tue Jun 18 2024

...New AVIATION...

.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Wednesday)
Issued at 1224 AM CDT Tue Jun 18 2024

A hot, humid air mass has settled over Middle Tennessee, and our
current weather pattern will continue throughout the 7-day
forecast period. High pressure centered to our east is keeping a
southerly flow over the region, hence the persistent heat and
mugginess. A swath of gulf-moisture has been responsible for
scattered convection along the Tennessee River during the past
several hours. It appears that this moisture band will drift
westward today and tonight, with lessening POPs across the mid
state on Tuesday, and dry conditions for the bulk of the mid state
from Wednesday onward.

.LONG TERM...
(Wednesday Night through next Tuesday)
Issued at 1224 AM CDT Tue Jun 18 2024

Rain and storm chances won`t return to Middle Tennessee until
Sunday and into early next week as a surface boundary rides down a
northwest flow aloft. It is also possible that we could see some
tropical effects later next week coming up from the Gulf of
Mexico, but this is a long way off. It`s rare to see tropical
effects in Middle Tennessee this early in the season, so we won`t
hype this up too much. Temperatures for the next 7 days will
consistently top out in the mid to upper 90s across much of the
region, and there is no relief from the heat forthcoming anytime
soon.
