Northwest Louisiana...East Texas...and Extreme Southeast Oklahoma National Weather Service Shreveport LA 418 AM CDT Fri Jun 7 2024 .DISCUSSION... Hot and dry conditions will continue across the region today through this weekend, as an upper level ridge of high pressure will shift east from West Texas into the area by tonight, while lingering through Sunday. Resultant afternoon temperatures will range from the mid to upper 90s each day, with attendant min RH`s ranging from 40-50%. Surface high pressure anchored from the Ozarks south into the region today will gradually shift southeast into the Tennessee Valley into the Southeast CONUS by tonight, with southerly 20ft winds returning for the upcoming weekend. Thus, a gradual increase in humidity is expected as well, resulting in higher heat indices during the weekend. The approach of an upper level disturbance and attendant weak surface front will yield an increase in scattered showers and thunderstorms over Northeast Texas, Southeast Oklahoma, and Southwest Arkansas Sunday night, and over the remainder of the area Monday and Tuesday. This will also result in cooler temperatures and higher RH`s to start the new work week, with the unsettled weather possibly lingering into midweek. Showers and thunderstorms may become more isolated by late week, with hotter temperatures returning areawide.
