Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 97 mph Path Length /statute/: 0.23 miles Path Width /maximum/: 100 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 05/22/2024 Start Time: 07:30 PM CDT Start Location: 9 SSW Haughton / Bossier Parish / LA Start Lat/Lon: 32.4006 / -93.553 End Date: 05/22/2024 End Time: 07:30 PM CDT End Location: 9 SSW Haughton / Bossier Parish / LA End Lat/Lon: 32.4025 / -93.5499 Survey Summary: A slow moving supercell thunderstorm moving across southern Caddo and Bossier Parishes on the evening of May 22nd produced a very brief and relatively weak tornado in southern Bossier Parish just on the north side of Highway 527, just west of Red Chute Bayou. The tornado was most intense crossing over Cedar Street on the north side of Highway 527 where a carport was ripped off a single family residence, a metal building system had a door collapsed in, and an outbuilding had its roof blown off to the north. In addition, many trees were uprooted or had their trunks snapped in this general area. Other tree damage occurred elsewhere in the short path of the tornado with scattered signs of the typical damage convergence associated with tornadoes along its length. && EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the following categories: EF0.....65 to 85 mph EF1.....86 to 110 mph EF2.....111 to 135 mph EF3.....136 to 165 mph EF4.....166 to 200 mph EF5.....>200 mph NOTE: The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to change pending final review of the event and publication in NWS Storm Data. $$
