999 FNUS75 KSLC 161126 FWSSLC Spot Forecast for New Canyon RX...USFS National Weather Service Salt Lake City UT 526 AM MDT Sun Jun 16 2024 Forecast is based on ignition time of 0700 MDT on June 16. If conditions become unrepresentative...contact the National Weather Service. .DISCUSSION...West to southwesterly flow remains in place over the burn area today alongside slightly cooler temperatures and higher humidity. That said, temperatures will remain above normal for this time of year and humidity will bottom out in the upper teens. Winds will peak with gusts around 20-25 mph on exposed ridges, slopes, and aligned west-east oriented drainages this afternoon. Overnight, winds are anticipated to remain elevated on ridges and upper elevation slopes with diurnal terrain flows expected within drainages in the mid-to-low elevations. Due to elevated winds, overnight humidity recoveries are expected to be poor. A cold front progresses through the area on Monday, bringing strong winds just ahead of the boundary and shifting wind direction to northwesterly behind the boundary. Current timing of the cold front progression through the burn area is expected between 1500 and 1800 on Monday. .REST OF TODAY... Sky/weather.........Sunny (0-10 percent cloud cover).
