...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 AM CDT THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of central South Dakota, including the following
  counties, Buffalo and Hand.

* WHEN...Until 800 AM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. It will take
  several hours for all the water from these storms to work through
  local drainage systems in urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 215 AM CDT, emergency management reported heavy rain in
    the warned area due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or
    expected to begin shortly.
  - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is
    expected.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Fort Thompson, Miller Dale Colony, Shelby, Gann Valley,
    Pleasant Valley Country Church, Sunshine Bible Academy,
    Etbauer Hill, Danforth, Lees Corner, Crow Creek Housing,
    Rosehill Dam, Tailrace Rec Area, Lake Francis Case, Lake
    Sharpe, Crow Creek Reservation and eastern Lower Brule
    Reservation.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
