876 WWUS83 KDDC 280212 SPSDDC Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Dodge City KS 912 PM CDT Thu Jun 27 2024 KSZ080-088-089-280300- Clark KS-Kiowa KS-Comanche KS- 912 PM CDT Thu Jun 27 2024 ...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT SOUTHWESTERN KIOWA...WESTERN COMANCHE AND CLARK COUNTIES THROUGH 1000 PM CDT... At 911 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Clark State Lake, moving east at 35 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of southwestern Kiowa, western Comanche and Clark Counties. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
