Weather Summary for Portions of the Central Plains
National Weather Service Hastings NE
618 AM CDT Fri Jun 28 2024

Overall...for most locations the daytime hours today look to be dry.
During the late morning to early afternoon hours...an area of
scattered showers and weak storms passes east across the area...but
does not look to amount to much. This afternoon...expecting
thunderstorms to develop once again over the higher terrain of
Colorado and western Nebraska...with this activity then expected to
slide east through the evening and overnight hours. Some
uncertainties remain with just how well this activity holds together
as it pushes east...but there will be the potential for some storms
to move into the area. Cannot rule out a few storms being strong to
severe...with hail around the size of ping pong balls...wind gusts
near 60 MPH and heavy rain possible with the strongest storms. The
overall tornado threat looks to be low. Otherwise...expecting partly
cloudy skies...with southerly winds to start the day...then turning
westerly then northwesterly as a surface front pushes through the
area. Afternoon highs are forecast to reach the mid 80s north to mid
90s south. The start of the upcoming weekend is expected to be
dry...with decreasing cloud cover and highs in the mid 70s to mid
80s...but storm chances return for Sunday and Monday. Gusty
southeasterly winds are expected Sunday and Monday...with highs back
in the 90s to near 100 by Monday.
