.DISCUSSION...
A upper level ridge remains over the district, with the axis
centered over the Four Corners area. This is allowing for mid-level
moisture to be advected up from the southwest and over the region,
which will allow for thunderstorms to develop by later in the day
due to orographic lifting. It does appear that these thunderstorms
will develop later in the afternoon, around 4 PM, over the area of
interest, but may possibly develop sooner. The bases with these
storms will be more high based and may result in gusty outflow winds
up to 50 mph. There is a lesser threat of hail, although this may
occur as well, with hail size up to 3/4 inches in diameter.
Transport winds will be out of the south today, then back to the
west later this evening and through tomorrow. Smoke dispersion will
be Very Good today, then become Poor tonight, and only improve to
Fair tomorrow.
