Cooler and wetter weather today producing a threat of locally heavy rainfall on area burn scars will give way to drier and hotter weather this weekend and into next week. The dry and hotter weather advances through western NM Saturday, the central mountain chain Sunday, and through the eastern plains Monday. Southwesterly winds will increase each day as well with critical fire weather conditions likely through the northeastern quadrant of the state Monday and Tuesday afternoons. Fuels will be the limiting factor in this area, dependent on how much moisture and greenup there will be from today. Moisture gets replenished through eastern NM by Wednesday thanks to a backdoor cold front, advancing moisture westward Thursday and Friday.
