Regional Weather Summary
National Weather Service State College PA
546 AM EDT Fri Jun 28 2024

High pressure centered over the region to start the day will drift
east of the Commonwealth this afternoon.

Sunshine will be mixed with variable amounts of mainly thin, high
clouds through the midday hours today before some periods of
thicker mid-level clouds spread in from the west this afternoon
and evening.

High temperatures this afternoon will range from the mid to upper
70s across the mountains, to the lower to mid 80s elsewhere. Lows
tonight will be notably milder than early Friday, varying from
the mid 50s over the Poconos to around 70 in the southwest corner
of the stat.

A warmer and much more humid airmass will surge back into
Pennsylvania on Saturday. At the leading edge of this airmass
change will be a chance of showers and storms later tonight.

Showers and thunderstorms will become much more widespread on
Saturday and Saturday night. Some storms could become severe
Saturday afternoon and evening with a threat for localized damaging
wind gusts, large hail and even a few tornadoes across Central and
Northwestern Pennsylvania. Heavy downpours with rainfall amounts
of 1-3 inches are possible where several storms move over the same
locations.

A cold front will move east and south of the area by late Sunday,
bringing in less humid air.
