Hot weather will impact the region today, especially from near the Nebraska Kansas state line into north central Kansas...where heat index values from 100 to 105 degrees are expected. The hottest temperatures will impact the area from approximately 1PM to 7PM today. There is a slight chance of thunderstorms late this afternoon and evening across mainly north central Kansas. Some of these may be strong to severe with large hail and strong winds. North central Kansas and portions of far south central Nebraska are in a marginal risk for severe weather Thursday afternoon and evening. If these storms develop, 4PM to 10PM is the most likely timeframe. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday. Friday, thunderstorms are expected across much of the area from the afternoon hours, likely persisting into the overnight hours Saturday morning. Some of these storms may be severe, mainly during the late afternoon and evening hours. The southwestern half of the forecast area is in a Slight Risk for severe storms and the northeastern half of the area is in a Marginal Risk for severe storms. There will be at least a slight chance of thunderstorms each afternoon and evening Saturday through Wednesday.
