841 NOUS43 KGLD 301200 PNSGLD Public Information Statement National Weather Service Goodland KS 600 AM MDT Fri Aug 30 2024 ...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY... In 2010, afternoon thunderstorms developed and moved northeast across Red Willow County in southwest Nebraska. An apparent microburst at McCook, Nebraska, resulted in a small area of damage. A peak wind gust of 59 mph occurred at the airport, but damage in town occurred from an estimated 80 mph wind gust. A 6000 square foot section of roof was torn from the local lumber yard and the sheet metal wrapped around and damaged several vehicles, causing severe body and tire damage. A nearby car dealership also sustained damage and winds were strong enough to topple a light pole. $$
