Rangeland Fire Danger Statement
National Weather Service Aberdeen SD

.DISCUSSION...

While high pressure will dominate our weather at the surface, an
upper level disturbance will help bring a 20 percent chance of light
rain to portions of the area mainly from around Pierre northeast to
Redfield, Sisseton, and Watertown. Relative humidity values will
bottom out mainly in the 30 percent range, lowest over north central
South Dakota, where winds will increase out of the south to southwest
to around 15 mph this afternoon. Elsewhere, winds will be from
variable wind directions at around 10 mph or less.

Around a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms will return
Saturday night into Sunday morning, before increasing Sunday
afternoon and evening as a strong cold front moves through. Stay
weather aware, as strong to severe storms will be possible Sunday
afternoon and evening.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that the
probability of a fast moving fire is low. Outdoor burning under
these conditions can usually be performed with reasonable safety
precautions, but should be monitored.

The outlook for Saturday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index
will reach the low category.
