Fire Weather Forecast for Northeast and North Central Colorado
National Weather Service Denver/Boulder CO
252 PM MDT Sun Jun 16 2024

...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY MORNING THROUGH
MONDAY EVENING FOR THE DENVER METRO AND PORTIONS OF THE EASTERN
PLAINS...FIRE WEATHER ZONES 239, 240, 243, 244, 245, AND 249...

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM MDT THIS EVENING FOR
MIDDLE PARK, SOUTH PARK, THE PALMER DIVIDE, AND LINCOLN COUNTY...
FIRE WEATHER ZONES 213, 214, 241, 246, AND 247...

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 9 PM MDT MONDAY FOR
MIDDLE PARK, SOUTH PARK, SOUTHERN FRONT RANGE FOOTHILLS, PALMER
DIVIDE, AND LINCOLN COUNTY... FIRE ZONES 213, 214, 216, 246, AND
247...

.DISCUSSION...Tonight and Monday...Critical fire weather conditions
are forecast again on Monday. Poor to moderate humidity recovery
is expected overnight tonight across most of the higher
elevations, with overnight humidity values only climbing back to
about 30-50%. Better recovery is likely across the northeast
plains where low level moisture has persisted today.

A quick return to dry/gusty conditions is likely for Middle/South
Park and the southern Foothills/Palmer Divide by late tomorrow
morning with winds a bit stronger than today. Minimum RH values
will again bottom out near 9-14%. Across the Denver metro and into
the plains to the north and east, considerable uncertainty
remains. If the shallow moist layer erodes tomorrow morning,
critical fire weather conditions may spread into these zones, but
it is equally likely that this moisture persists and winds remain
lighter out of the east. Have gone with a Fire Weather Watch where
confidence is lower. Smoke dispersal across the forecast area is
forecast to be good to excellent.

LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Monday night through Friday...Any remaining
watches or warnings still in place from Monday`s widespread
critical fire weather conditions are expected to expire by 9PM
Monday night. A cold frontal passage overnight into Tuesday will
help put an end to all critical fire weather conditions. There may
be a few locations with elevated fire weather conditions possible
Tuesday afternoon in Weld County (FZ238 and FZ242), and portions
of FZ214 and FZ216 as relative humidities are expected to drop
into the mid teens and winds could gust up to 25 mph. Smoke
dispersal will be good to excellent through the end of the
extended forecast with no additional critical fire weather
conditions expected at this time.

...Thunderstorms imply strong gusty erratic winds...
...All surface winds are 20-Foot...10-Minute averaged winds...
...CWR is Chance of Wetting Rain - 0.10 inch or more liquid...
...24 HR Trends are based on averages over the respective zone
groups and may not match the actual forecast values
                    shown in those groups...
