Fire Weather Forecast for Northeast and North Central Colorado
National Weather Service Denver/Boulder CO
310 AM MDT Sun Jun 16 2024

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 6 PM MDT THIS
EVENING...

.DISCUSSION...Today and tonight...
Critical fire weather conditions are likely for portions of Grand
and Summit counties due to low humidity near 12-14 percent and
southwesterly winds producing wind gusts up to 25 mph this
afternoon. Additionally, similar conditions will occur for the
Palmer Divide, and adjacent plains including metro Denver. A Red Flag
Warning will remain in effect stating noon until 6 PM MDT this
evening. Smoke dispersal conditions reach very good to excellent for
majority of the region today.

LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Monday through Thursday...
Elevated to critical fire conditions will be in place on Monday
with the highest threat areas across the Palmer Divide, Denver Metro,
South Park and Middle Park. Temperatures will be well above normal
with low humidity and gusty winds.

On Tuesday, a cold front will move across the area and reduce the
fire threat as cooler temperatures and higher humidity move in. For
Wednesday, temperatures will remain below normal with a chance
of thunderstorms manly over the higher terrain. On Thursday,
temperatures will rise back to seasonal levels with a chance of
afternoon and evening thunderstorms.

...Thunderstorms imply strong gusty erratic winds...
...All surface winds are 20-Foot...10-Minute averaged winds...
...CWR is Chance of Wetting Rain - 0.10 inch or more liquid...
...24 HR Trends are based on averages over the respective zone
groups and may not match the actual forecast values
                    shown in those groups...
