Winds were mainly variable in direction at 17z but should turn
more north by 18z and then NE by 20z. Widely sct high based
showers and storms will be possible between 21z and 01z with
gusty outflow winds up to 40 mph. After 01z shower/tstm threat
should end with south or southeast winds which will become
drainage overnight. Overall, expect VFR conditions thru the
period with brief ceilings down to 8000-9000 ft as a high based
shower or storm moves across.

VFR conditions are expected at all three TAF sites, KCOS, KPUB, and
KALS, for the next 24 hours. Isolated showers and weak thunderstorms
are possible in the vicinity of all three stations this afternoon
and this evening, mainly between 21Z and 02Z. Though confidence in
any storms moving directly over any station is low at this time,
gusty outflow winds could directly impact the terminals today.

Wyoming remains on the northern edge of a ridge with the jet stream
to the north in Montana and southern Canada. This ridge is keeping
it very dry in the lowest 10-15kft. A weak wave will pass through
this afternoon, which may bring some isolated convective activity to
the area from a line along and southeast of KRKS to KCPR. The chance
for isolated thunderstorms is high enough (20-30%) at KCPR to
warrant a TEMPO group of -TSRA, but the biggest threat would be very
strong downdraft wind due to the inverted V soundings. Downdrafts
will, however, have a long way to go to reach the ground. Other
terminals will be SKC for most of the TAF period and it will be
breezy through this afternoon. Prevailing VFR for all terminals
through the TAF period. Even if an isolated thunderstorm directly
impacts KCPR it would likely (80%) remain VFR as most, if not all,
of the precipitation would not reach the ground.

Coverage is expected to be sparse so not enough confidence to
warrant a TEMPO or even a VCTS. Will monitor radar trends
closely and amend if activity develops on a trajectory to impact
a TAF site. Any convection will wane quickly with loss of
diurnal heating toward sunset so expect dry conditions

hint for some sub-VFR CIGs to move down from the north and
affect KVTN late Tuesday morning but probabilistic guidance
shows a 30 percent chance or less for CIGs at or below 3kft AGL,
so will put in some low VFR SCT clouds and see if a trend for
lower CIGs develops as later guidance becomes available.
The boundary layer is hot, dry, and deeply mixed. This will
create some gusty conditions into early this evening before
winds diminish for the overnight period. Note however that in
this environment any storms that do develop will be capable of
producing strong and erratic gusty outflow winds that may
travel a good distance from the parent convection. Lack of
confidence in timing and location of convection prohibits a
specific mention in the TAF but pilots should anticipate rapid
changes in wind speed and direction near any thunderstorms.

KGLD...VFR conditions are expected through the period. A
southerly wind under 11kts at taf issuance will continue through
about 00z. Tonight, east to southeast winds up to 11kts through
06z veer back to the south to southwest at similar speeds.
Tuesday morning, winds continue to veer to the northwest at
speeds up to 11kts. Regarding thunderstorm chances, they are
possible in/near the terminal from roughly 20z-04z. The primary
hazard will be strong and sudden outflow wind gusts up to 55kts
or so. Given the isolated nature of the activity, will not
include a mention in the taf forecast at this time.
KMCK...VFR conditions are expected through the period. A
southerly wind up to 11kts is expected through about 02z.
Tonight, southeast winds under 10kts become light and variable.
Tuesday morning, winds veer to the west then northwest at speeds
under 10kts. Regarding thunderstorm chances, highest confidence
in them in/near the terminal is from 23z-03z. Similar to KGLD,
primary hazard is strong and sudden outflow wind gusts up to
55kts or so.

Isolated weak thunderstorms were seen over Kiowa county this
morning, however these convective elements were not growing
upscale and not likely to persist in the short term. Any cloud
cover for the rest of the afternoon will be high, however
thunderstorms may develop across the far western reached of
Kansas, and moves into western Kansas in the mid to late evening
hours. The hot airmass will ensure high cloud bases, and low
visibility is not likely to be a concern - but with the steep
lapse rates and high moisture contents of the atmosphere, the
chances for severe downbursts and even hail cannot be discounted
from about 3z to 7z as widely scattered storms will probably be
ongoing (15-25 % chances).

Southerly winds at 13 to 17 knots with higher gusts will decrease
to the 10 to 15 knot range this evening. Winds will then pick up
again at the AMA TAF site to near 20 knots by mid morning.
Thunderstorms may try to make a run at the DHT and GUY TAF sites,
but confidence in any one thunderstorm affecting the TAF sites is
very low, so will not mention them at this time. Skies are
expected to remain VFR outside of thunderstorms.

Skies have cleared considerably overnight. Afternoon thunderstorm
activity is expected to begin over the western and central
mountain chains near the noon hour or 18Z. Storm coverage will
steadily increase thru the afternoon, with the highest coverage of
storms focused over west-central NM. More isolated to scattered
thunderstorm coverage will be present over the northern mountains
and south-central mountains. Localized MVFR conditions will
accompany any thunderstorm cell. Coverage is only enough to
warrant PROB30s at KGUP, KSAF and KLVS for thunderstorm impacts.
KABQ and KAEG do have TEMPOs for higher confidence that gusty
winds could reach these terminals later in the day. Thunderstorm
activity will wane thru the evening hours with skies steadily
clearing out again tonight into Tuesday morning.
