Coastal Waters Forecast for the Lower Texas Coast

Lower Texas coastal waters from Baffin Bay to the mouth of the
Rio Grande out 60 NM.

Seas are provided as a range of the average height of the highest
1/3 of the waves, along with the occasional height of the average
highest 10 percent of the waves.

.SYNOPSIS...High pressure across the eastern Gulf will support
light to moderate winds and slight seas today. Tropical Storm
Helene is expected to become Hurricane Helene while moving north-
northeast through the eastern Gulf of Mexico later today through
Thursday evening. Resulting swell will begin to arrive to the
lower Texas coast Thursday. Meanwhile, a weak cold front is
expected to pass through the western Gulf Coastal Waters tonight
into Thursday morning, accompanied by a brief period of moderate
to fresh northerly winds through Thursday evening. The combined
effects of the front and swell will result in enhanced wave
heights beginning Thursday and continuing through Friday. Small
Craft Should Exercise Caution headlines for seas may be needed
Thursday through Friday night. Favorable conditions look to return
Saturday.
