Regional Weather Summary
National Weather Service State College PA
516 AM EDT Fri Jun 21 2024

Hot and humid first full day of summer across the Keystone State
with near-record high temperatures ranging from the mid 80s to
mid 90s. A few strong to locally damaging thunderstorm wind gusts
are possible this afternoon and evening along with some brief
heavy rainfall. Low temperatures tonight between 65 and 75
degrees will provide little relief from the heat. Areas of fog
may become locally dense overnight into early Saturday morning.

The ongoing, significant early summer heat wave impacting the
Commonwealth will peak over the weekend with high temperatures
between 90 and 100 degrees and heat indices between 95 and 110
degrees. The early arrival of the heat, persistence of the heat
over multiple days, and light winds and limited cloud cover will
remain aggravating factors in terms of overall heat stress.

Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms will remain possible
during the afternoon and evening Saturday and Sunday. Some relief
from the sweltering heat and humidity is expected on Monday.
