Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southeast Wyoming/Western Nebraska
National Weather Service CHEYENNE WY
150 PM MDT Sun Jun 23 2024

...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM TO 6 PM MDT MONDAY...

.DISCUSSION...
Southeast Wyoming and Nebraska Panhandle under the influence of high
pressure that extends into western Colorado this afternoon. Air is
pretty stable this afternoon. But could see a few high based
thunderstorms develop mid to late afternoon today that could produce
some lightning over the mountains and adjacent high valleys. These
storms expected to die off fairly quickly after sunset. Temperatures
continue to warm Monday with near or slightly above 100 degrees in
the Panhandle and into Goshen County. Highs elsewhere in the mid to
upper 90s. Very dry afternoon humidity expected with low to mid teens
across the forecast area. Given fuels are reported as not ready...
fire weather concerns will be minimal. Expecting to see an increase
in high based thunderstorms Monday afternoon across our western fire
weather zones. Given the dry atmosphere...could see dry lightning
that could produce some fire starts Monday afternoon. Be alert for
this dry lightning in your fire zones. Increasing chances for showers
and storms Tuesday through the remainder of the week.
