Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southeast Wyoming/Western Nebraska
National Weather Service CHEYENNE WY
300 AM MDT Mon Jun 24 2024

...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM TO 6 PM MDT TODAY...

.DISCUSSION...

Very hot and dry weather is expected today across the area. Highs
will reach the upper 80s to 90s for all valleys, with 100+F
temperatures in the lower elevations of far eastern Wyoming and
Nebraska. This will push RH values down below critical this
afternoon. Scattered high-based thunderstorms will develop early
this afternoon and continue through the early evening hours. Be
alert for the possibility of dry lightning, and strong gusty/erratic
winds in the vicinity of this activity. These storms will bring
fairly little rainfall. Tuesday looks similar, but it won`t be as
hot/dry northeast of a Lusk to Alliance line. PM storms will also be
much more isolated, but can`t rule out some gusty winds/lightning.
Low-level moisture will finally return Wednesday as the dry-line
retreats back to the Laramie range. Wetting rains will be more
likely with Wednesday`s PM thunderstorm activity.
