Overflowing poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1220 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Kansas City, Overland Park, Independence, Shawnee, Lenexa, Raytown, Liberty, Gladstone, Prairie Village, Merriam, Mission, Bonner Springs, De Soto, Parkville, Basehor, Edwardsville, North Kansas City, Fairway, Mission Hills and Sugar Creek. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
