570 FXUS65 KGGW 222032 AFDGGW Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Glasgow MT 232 PM MDT Sat Jun 22 2024 .DISCUSSION... KEY MESSAGES: - Warm air-mass thunderstorms possible today through Sunday. - High temperatures reaching into the mid 90s on Sunday near and south of the Hi-Line. - Quiet weather early next week will be followed by more active weather for the latter part of next week. WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: An active jet/zonal flow will remain across the northern States/Canadian border region for the next week. Slight ridging over the weekend will favor seasonably warm and drier conditions. Another shortwave lifts across the region on Sunday with the potential for showers and thunderstorms for Sunday afternoon and evening. Ridge then rebounds through midweek as a trof digs along the west coast. As southwest flow into Montana develops, showers and thunderstorms will return for the end of the week. FORECAST CONFIDENCE and DEVIATIONS: Confidence is medium to high for the general conditions remaining slightly warmer and drier than normal through much of next week. && .AVIATION... PATTERN: Overall high pressure, with embedded small-scale disturbances will continue to produce scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms through the TAF cycle. FLIGHT CATEGORIES: Mainly VFR, becoming IFR briefly if a storm happens to pass directly over a TAF site - which may happen at KGDV this afternoon.
