...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1996, flash flooding from heavy rainfall washed out a bridge
near St Francis Kansas. The Republican River was reported to be 100
feet wide at the peak of the flooding.

In 2001, large hail and wind damaged buildings in and around Park
Kansas. Windows were broken, crops were destroyed, and hail was 4
to 6 inches deep in places. Hail completely covered Interstate 70
until snow plows cleared the highway.
