...EXTENDED NOAA WEATHER RADIO OUTAGE IN THE ROCK HILL AREA...

The NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards transmitter broadcasting from
Rock Hill South Carolina, serving the Piedmont of the Carolinas,
was damaged due to an apparent lightning strike and has been off
the air for several days. Technicians visited the site earlier
today and have determined that extensive repairs need to be made
before the broadcast can be reestablished. This process likely
will take a few weeks. We apologize for any inconvenience this
may cause our listeners.

With Rock Hill not likely to return to service until mid to late
October, listeners are advised to tune their radios to different
frequencies in order to continue to receive weather alerts from
NOAA. The Spencer Mountain transmitter near Charlotte broadcasts
on 162.475 MHz and is the best choice for York or Chester County
in South Carolina, and for Gaston and Union Counties in North
Carolina. In Cherokee or Union County, South Carolina, the best
choice is the broadcast from Paris Mountain on 162.55 MHz.
