(Today) Issued at 202 AM CDT Thu May 30 2024 Dry weather will continue today as sfc high pressure influences the Tennessee Valley from the northwest. High temperatures are forecast to reach the upper 70s to lower 80s under clear skies. Winds are forecast to be light and variable in direction. && .SHORT TERM... (Tonight through Sunday) Issued at 202 AM CDT Thu May 30 2024 Upper level ridging and aforementioned sfc high pressure will continue to keep dry weather in place through the end of the work week. Low to medium rain chances (20-40%) return overnight Friday into Saturday as an upper level shortwave moves into the Tennessee Valley from the west ahead of a more pronounced trough. These shower/thunderstorm chances are forecast to increase in chance and coverage throughout the afternoon into the overnight hours (50-60%). During any storm, low shear and sufficient CAPE will support gusty winds. Moderate to heavy rainfall is also possible at times along with medium chances of lightning. The LREF displays PWATs around 1.5", which is around the 75th percentile per sounding climatology at BMX. 24 hour rainfall totals between Saturday and Sunday morning will most likely amount to around 0.25-0.5", but could be as high as around 1-2". Additional rainfall is forecast into next week. Friday and through the weekend, high temperatures are forecast to reach the upper 70s/mid 80s with overnight lows in the 60s. && .LONG TERM... (Sunday night through Wednesday) Issued at 202 AM CDT Thu May 30 2024 An upper level trough moves into the area early next week, bringing continues shower/thunderstorm chances to the Tennessee Valley through Wednesday. During this time, high temperatures are forecast to be in the 80s with low temperatures in the 60s. No severe weather is currently forecast.
