The on-going forecast appears to be on track, as weak and broad
surface high pressure situated across the eastern third of the
CONUS controls the sensible weather. After a mild, and foggy start
in a few spots, area temperatures have risen into the low/mid
70s. Under generally sunny skies, a warm late summer day remains
in the forecast, with highs warming into the mid/upper 80s with
light winds. No changes were needed at this time.

(Tonight through Sunday)

Through the short term forecast mid level ridging will build in
from the SW maintaining high pressure as the dominating weather
feature. This will support a gradual warming trend through the
weekend with highs building from the low 90s on Friday to the low
to mid 90s Saturday and Sunday. Continued subsidence from high
pressure will promote mostly clear skies and calm winds making
for a nice, if a little warm, weekend.

(Sunday night through Wednesday)

A slightly more active pattern will begin next week and an
low pressure system pushes east across the CONUS. The shift will
be gradual as the low pressure and associated front drifts
towards the area. Through the long term rain chances will slowly
build each day from about 10%-30% by Wednesday in response to the
approaching front. In turn this will result in slightly more cloud
cover and a gradual decrease in temps from the low 90s on Monday
to the mid 80s on Wednesday. Models have yet to converge on exact
details of the frontal passage regarding higher rain chances, have
maintained blended guidance for now with subsequent forecast
packages likely having a better idea as this moves into the short
term.

Trends are showing fog beginning to form along the TN River, have
included a tempo group at MSL from 12-14Z for lower visibilities,
yet left it out of HSV due to lower confidence. Fog should clear
out after 14Z with VFR conditions prevailing for the duration of
the TAF period.
