...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1988, record cold invaded across the Northern and
Central Plains, where 30 cities set record lows for the
date.  Among the record setters was St.  Joseph Missouri
with a low of 38 degrees.

&&

In 1989, early afternoon severe thunderstorms whip
lashed Winterhaven Florida with gusts that nearly reached
105 mph.  The incredible winds damaged or destroyed 9
aircraft, of which 4 were flipped over, 3 buildings and 1
hangar.
