Regional Weather Summary
National Weather Service Wichita KS
441 PM CDT Fri Jun 21 2024

Under partly cloudy skies it was warm and humid with breezy
southerly winds this afternoon. However, stronger wind gusts
around 40 mph occurred over a few areas of western and central
Kansas. Temperatures today rose into the mid 80s to low 90s.
There were some very isolated showers and storms scattered across
the state. This activity should decrease by early evening.

Overnight temperatures will range from the upper 50s in western
Nebraska to the mid 70s over northeast Oklahoma. A surface
boundary will extend across northern Nebraska and northeastern
Colorado. Scattered thunderstorms will occur in the vicinity of
the front tonight. There is a risk of a few severe storms.

Heat builds in for Saturday afternoon. Highest temperatures will
reach the upper 90s to the century mark especially across central
and south central Kansas. A surface boundary is expected to
arrive across north central Kansas by early afternoon and provide
some relief in the heat so that the highs there may reach the
low to mid 90s. It will be a bit breezy with winds sustained at
12 to 20 mph and gusts near 30 mph. As the surface boundary
slides across the area, scattered afternoon storms are expected to
develop with the possibility of them becoming strong to severe
across eastern Kansas.
