...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM EDT /5 AM CDT/ EARLY THIS
MORNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of Indiana, including the following counties, La
  Porte and St. Joseph and southwest Michigan, including the
  following county, Berrien.

* WHEN...Until 600 AM EDT /500 AM CDT/.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 153 AM EDT /1253 AM CDT/, Doppler radar indicated heavy
    rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or
    expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and
    3 inches of rain have fallen. The heaviest rainfall through
    150 AM EDT has occurred across central and northern Berrien
    Counties along with western and northern LaPorte County.
    Heavy rainfall will continue to sag southeast through 2 AM
    EDT affecting eastern LaPorte County, St. Joseph County
    Indiana, and southeast Berrien County Michigan.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected
    over the area with localized higher amounts. This additional
    rain will result in minor flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    South Bend, Michigan City, La Porte, Niles, Benton Harbor,
    St. Joseph, Westville, Buchanan, Georgetown, Trail Creek,
    Fair Plain, Benton Heights, Bridgman, New Buffalo, New
    Carlisle, Berrien Springs, Watervliet, Three Oaks, Coloma and
    Long Beach.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
